The good news is players can switch the script to English, and American players can download the game off the Playstation Network store. Lastly, Square ported the DS version of Final Fantasy III to the PSP, but the retail version was only released in Japan. We’re getting slightly ahead of ourselves now, but this PSP re-release of FFIV contained not only the original FFIV, but The After Years as well, plus a bonus chapter called “Interlude.” I’ll be covering both of those games in separate posts. Purchases on older platforms still supported by PSN must be made using the e-wallet connected to each PSN account, which in turn is loaded manually by the account holder. Unfortunately though, this version of the game suffers from frame rate problems and bad audio compression, but it’s still worth checking out. PSP content can be sideloaded via cable connection to PC and PS3. In addition to this, Square re-did the original tactics, complete with new animated cutscenes, a translation made by actual English speakers, and a few additional characters and bug fixes. ![]() Both games feature sharper graphics, but are mostly just ports of the Game Boy version, Dawn of Souls, though they use the music from Origins. Likewise the second game received some representation too.
